Who I Am:
My name is John. I am an American web application developer, writer, and student learning the Japanese language.
Why did I build Owl and Sakura?
To develop a web application, write articles and do translation work. Making a blog for Japanese language learning is a perfect way to combine these different worlds. This is also a platform for me to add other features as well as new applications in the future. I want to write fiction as well. The blogs and fiction will be translated and localized in the future.
There can be ads and merchandising as well. There is a lot of potential for a blog to become a business.
I am not a master of Japanese, a teacher or even fluent, at least at the start of making this. I am still N5, maybe N4. It is a place for me to practice translation.
I can't teach you how to be fluent, but I can tell you where to start and what has helped me. I can tell you what the pitfalls I had were and how to avoid them.
I want to share my experiences as someone who has struggled as I would do things differently if I could try from the beginning again.
This is for anyone who isn't sure how or if they should start or if anyone like me has struggled for a long time and isn't sure what they did wrong.
This is my story. Here is what I did wrong, Here is how I would start if I could start over. Don't do what I did, do this instead.
Here I can share my thoughts and new ideas I have about these things as I have not seen some of my points being made elsewhere and to create the things I want to create.
What does Owl and Sakura mean?
It is two characters of a fairy tale about a girl named Sakura and a mystical owl that I will write.
My mission is:
If no one will hire me to do the work I am passionate about, I will make it myself.
